July 31 - Must... have.... sleeeeep....

I have no idea why I'm blogging. It has been a hell of day, but I still feel compelled to do more. I'm so tired.... so tired that when I was exiting the hospital parking lot, I moved into the right lane to swipe my parking card and I literally thought, I'm in the right lane so roll down the right window. So there I was, pulling up to the gate and I ROLLED DOWN MY RIGHT WINDOW. Hellloooo Melanie.

Max had an okay day. He upchucked a couple of times after his meals, but eh, it's to be expected with a stomach the size of a walnut. He's been showing signs of bottle aversion so part of my day was spent chasing down an Occupational Therapist who's immediately available to come to the house and help out with his issues. No luck so far, after an hour and a half worth of phone calls, but tomorrow's another day.

The schedule tomorrow is this: Phoo is off for "paternity leave" beginning tomorrow through the next two weeks. It's the most time he has taken off since..... well.... forever. I know it was before he met me eight years ago, and each of our vacations lasted only a week. He only took a week off after Meaghan was born. So tomorrow we get Meaghan off to school, install the car seat, and head to the hospital. We don't know how long discharge is going to take. We've been told that we're leaving sometime mid- to late-morning. Which means we'll be home by 3:00. There's no way it will take less than several hours. Irrespective of the formal stuff to do, we have a bunch of personal effects to bring home -- dirty laundry, Max' swing chair and bouncy chairs, etc.

My final note: since I know Amier and Dena are reading this, I'm going to send a proper shout-out. We miss you... AND YOUR RESTAURANT IS FABULOUS. Phoo and I went there the opening weekend, and our experience was incredible. We're sorry we missed you that night. The food was excellent, and Phoo said the tuna was sushi-quality tuna. We look forward to visiting again... in the year 2010. Ari's Wine Bistro. Where Il Sole used to be. Travis Street, south of Knox. And afterwards we went to your CHATEAU downstairs and bought a bottle of French wine (2005) to give to our beloved Dr. D. He was THRILLED.

The next post you see will be after we get home, maybe not until late. The home nursing administrator is coming over and there's sure to be at least two kinds of chaos occurring for the first several hours.

Thanks to everyone for your support and kind words.
