May 21 - Late Night

01:00 - Actually early May 22, not 21st. I just got back from the hospital...

Max' arterial line was taken out this evening. He's been moving about so much that it had begun to leak and became unstable. It was concluded that it wasn't critical to have real-time monitoring of his blood pressure, so the ART line was removed. This big impact of this is that now we can hold him again. There was a risk of bleeding out if the line came loose while we were holding him.

His ventilator breathing rate will be scaled back tomorrow (Thursday) morning due to the favorable blood gas report that came back from his 9pm test.

There was no residual left from either the 5pm or 8pm feeding. He's almost off of TPN. They've kept a nominal amount going just to keep the vein open (i.e. KVO level), in case they need to fall back. Max was sucking his fingers while his feeding tube was being administered. This is a good sign that he's association sucking with eating.
