May 19 - Morning

08:45 -- Yesterday was Sunday and Phoo and I traded off visits again. Dad and Phoo met w/ Dr. R. for a looong time, and Dr. R. explained Max' PDA situation in "engineering terms" so that they understood fully what's going on. Max seemed to be experiencing pain yesterday, so they restarted him on a different pain medication to allow his stomach to continue functioning. He's up to 25ML of milk every three hours and is doing a good job of digesting it. Yesterday brought two more "substantial" poops, according to the nurse. They should be doing a bilirubin test this morning; I'll find out the results when I get there.

Other than that, Max' weekend was mostly uneventful - more ventilator tweaking and milk increasing. Dr. R. said the immediate goal is to get his feedings up in the 50-ish ML range; the next goal is to get him back on the CPAP machine. This should take us through the next couple of weeks if he continues to progress well (*knock on wood*). As always, we'll expect the unexpected, hope for the best but prepare for the worst, etc. etc.

Last, I'd like to send a big shout-out and "thank you" to my dear friend Michelle L. -- she knows why. Without her, I'd probably be unable to say, "I'm now off to the hospital."

I'm now off to the hospital....
