11:27 -- After a challenging couple of days, I am back blogging from the hospital. Max is stable today. I already spoke with Dr. D. and he said that Max is okay today, still having bleedig issues, no surprise there. He is gradually reincorporating milk into his feedings starting now and if all goes well, the transition back to 100% breast milk will be complete in three days. There was no blood gas done this morning. The plan is: blood gas tomorrow and if numbers look good, his PEEP will be reduced from 6 to 5. Another blood gas Saturday, and if numbers look good ... CPAP gone! No platelets transfusion today, his count is exactly the same as Monday before the transfusion. Dr. D. said his body just wants to maintain 32k and his spleen is chomping up the rest. Max had his feeding tube switched back to his nose. He kept gagging on it last night so the nurse switched it. I changed his diaper a few minutes ago -- "terra cotta poop" is what the nurse called it. It didn't look like fresh blood thank goodness.
Well that's it for now I guess. We're likely making the ganciclovir decision tomorrow after the LFT test.
