June 12 - No Excuses...

08:15 -- I'd like to say that Phoo and I have a good excuse for not posting yesterday, but we don't. I was at the hospital from the morning until 17:00, and he was there until 23:15 or so. We both were too busy I guess....

In any case, I'm happy to report that nothing is going on really. The only new & significant information is that Dr. M. put in the order for us to meet with the Occupational Therapist, who will assess Max' readiness to begin bottle feeding. We don't know when that will be b/c they're short 2 out of 3 OTs on staff.

I noticed yesterday morning that Max has a new and sizable bruise surrounding his belly button. Dr. M. came and looked at it and didn't seem too concerned. Later in the day when I changed his diaper I noticed how snugly the diaper fit him. Turns out that for whatever reason (probably an oversight) Max was switched back to Newborn size diapers from the bigger size "1" and those may have been too tight on him; given how easily he bruises, that may have been the culprit. Who knows, but it's worth noting.

Max is still on the vancomycin for his bacterial infection. It's frustrating to have to wear gloves and a gown every time we touch him. I found out that once a child goes into a "contact isolation" status that he'll never come off of it. So FOR THE REST OF MAX' NICU STAY, the staff at least will have to wear gowns and gloves to touch him or his crib. That will get old. I don't know if that applies to us as well, but I'll be sure to find out.

It's nice to report minor developments for a change.
