On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 30, Melanie went in for a routine 35-week sonogram. During the exam her physician discovered some troubling anomolies and sent her to Labor & Delivery Triage for observation. Within a few hours it was determined that the baby was in danger and an emergency C-section would be performed.
Maxwell Irwin Davis was born at 6:52pm that same day.
The delivery room examination revealed that he had both an enlarged liver and spleen. His color was very jaundiced. The neonatologist on call was paged who immediately sent him to the NICU.
